Job summary

Wonderful College Prep Academy in California seeks an Instructional Assistant to support teachers, supervise play, and help ensure students’ academic success in a fast-paced classroom.

You will work closely with staff to implement management strategies, assist with administrative tasks, and communicate with families to strengthen student outcomes. This is a full-time, on-site position with comprehensive benefits.

Responsibilities

• Supports instruction and 1:1 tutoring as needed.
• Supervises structured play before, during and after school.
• Learns classroom management and differentiation techniques from experienced teachers.
• Supports a vision of excellence for all students.
• Assists with administrative tasks and tutoring for students.
• Communicates with families and participates in community events.
• Administers first aid or necessary aid to distressed students.
• May assist with toileting and medication per district policy.

Job Description

The Instructional Assistantwill partner with Teachers to hold students tohigh expectationsin the classrooms and other settings, such as lunch and recess. The Instructional Assistant Willdemonstratecommitment to our college-going mission by believing in students’ potential and supportingstudents' learning.

Essential Job Functions:

• Supports teacher-directed instruction, including 1:1 tutoring as needed
• Supervises structured play before, during, and after school
• Learns from experienced teachers who will explicitly teach classroom management techniques and differentiation strategies that will help meet the learning needs of all students
• Supports a vision of excellence forallstudents, with an urgency to maximize every opportunity necessary to achieve ambitious student outcomes
• Provides support with administrative tasks, clerical duties, andtutoringstudents
• Demonstrates commitment to the community by communicating regularly with families and attending key community events
• Administersfirst aid or necessary physicalassistanceto ill or distressed students
• Mayassistwith toileting and diapering as necessary; may administer prescribed medicationin accordance withestablished Districtprocedure
• Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:

• Environment: Classroom environment; fast-paced work, constant interruptions
• Physical requirements: Hearing and speaking to exchange information, make presentations and communicate over the telephone; seeing to read, prepare, and proofread documents and view computer monitors; sitting or standing for extended periods of time; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment; kneeling, bending at the waist, and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, to retrieve and store files and supplies; lifting light objects; ability to go to sites apart from the primary office to conductbusiness.

Pay Range: $20.00 - $27.12/hour. Final compensation will depend on skills & experience.
