Job summary

Cancer Care Northwest is seeking a dedicated full-time Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. The role provides professional nursing care for patients following established standards and practices, encompassing age-specific needs from late adolescence to the elderly in an oncology setting.

The position requires RN licensure in the state, BLS certification, and 0–3 years nursing experience with oncology preferred.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education; BSN preferred.
  • RN license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Must meet continuing education requirements.
  • Business experience — 0-3 years nursing experience; at least one year in oncology preferred; specialized knowledge/skills with oncology certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists physician with exams and procedures and maintains efficient patient flow in and out of exam rooms.
  • Assesses and records patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Maintains all exam room disinfection protocols.
  • Assesses patients for changes in condition and initiates appropriate actions.
  • Maintains knowledge of reimbursement procedures, completes procedure charge forms, ensures pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to procedures and therapies.

Position Overview

Cancer Care Northwest is seeking a dedicated full-time Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. This position is responsible for providing professional nursing care for patients following established standards and practices. It requires knowledge of age-specific differences across patient populations including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly, covering physiological, psychological, and developmental differences. The nurse participates in company-wide quality initiatives and supports adherence to the Cancer Care Northwest Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities
  • Assists physician with exams and procedures and maintains efficient patient flow in and out of exam rooms.
  • Assesses and records patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Maintains all exam room disinfection protocols.
  • Assesses patients for changes in condition (e.g., abnormal labs, x-rays, scans, drug reactions) and initiates appropriate actions.
  • Maintains knowledge of reimbursement procedures, completes procedure charge forms, ensures pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to procedures and therapies, and ensures nursing charges are accurate on patient fee slips.
  • Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports, and maintains central line catheters. Primary nurse role may cross-train to the infusion nurse role.
  • Administers medications with correct medication, dosage, route, time, and technique; demonstrates skills including subcutaneous, intramuscular, and venipuncture administration.
  • Triages patient calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patient’s chart.
  • Maintains a clean work environment and restocks supplies; provides nursing coverage for satellite offices as needed.
  • Follows OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents, biohazardous waste, and materials potentially infected with bloodborne pathogens.
  • Participates in professional development and maintains professional affiliations; acts as a resource to medical assistants.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and current knowledge of oncology nursing through ongoing education.
  • Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.
Qualifications

Physical Demands

Physical requirements include full range of motion with handling and lifting of patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Standing and walking for extended periods; occasional lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal ranges. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable performance of essential functions.

Work Environment

Oncology/hematology clinic environment with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and medical preparations. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable performance of essential functions.

Salary Range: DOE — $36.50 - $58.84 per hour
