Position Objective
Mountain Sun Community School seeks two support staff members for our Primary program serving students ages 3-6. These positions are for the 2026-2027 school year.
Reports to:
Assistant Head of School for Faculty and Head of School
Works with:
Primary Lead and Assistant Teachers, Mountain Sun faculty, staff, and families
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation is $18/hour. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. There will also be after‑school care for children ages 3-14 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Responsibilities
- Work with children in our Primary program aged 3-6 years in a classroom setting consisting of a lead teacher, an assistant teacher and a support staff member.
- Support the children through their classroom experience, including assisting with nap time, toileting work, snack, and other daily transitions in the classroom.
- Maintain a clean and tidy indoor and outdoor environment for all children in coordination with the other guides to provide a safe space for learning.
- Develop and maintain an environment that meets the sensitive periods/planes of development of the children he/she works with.
- Maintain an ongoing dialogue with your team to coordinate curriculum integration and implementation, as well as maintain communication with parents.
- Provide after school care for children ages 3-14 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED, required
- Passion for working with young children
- Experience with the Montessori philosophy and/or environment, preferred
- A commitment to personal and professional development
- A creative individual and team player
- Ability to maintain calm and focus
- Operates with a high level of integrity
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to learn positive language, new tools, and conflict resolution strategies from the team
- Flexible and adaptable
- Ability to follow oral and written directions
- Willing to support toilet learning, as needed (all children in our Primary program are required to be potty‑trained)
