Job summary

Community Care Center in Duarte, CA is seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor to provide general counseling, group therapy and casework services to assigned clients and their families. This role reports to the Program Manager and Program Director and substance abuse counselor certification is desirable.

The candidate will work in a behavioral center environment, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to support residents and their families in recovery and ongoing care planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field is strongly preferred.
• 2 years' experience working with the mentally ill and co-occurring population—degree may be substituted for hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

• Prompt all clients for groups/activities and track weekly attendance.
• Collect data for ABC forms and related documentation.
• Provide daily, weekly, monthly & quarterly progress reports for clients on caseload.
• Participate in interdisciplinary care plan meetings.
• Directly responsible for the overall care of about 10 clients on caseload.

POSITION SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to provide general counseling, group therapy and casework services to assigned clients and their families. This position reports to: Program Manager, and Program Director. Substance Abuse Counselor desired certification.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Delegation of authority

• Authority is delegated to the individual in this position to:
• Prompt all clients for groups/activities, totaling all attendance weekly.
• Collect all data necessary to complete ABC forms and related documentation.
• Provide timely and accurate daily, weekly, monthly & quarterly progress reports for clients on caseload.
• Participate in interdisciplinary care plan meetings.
• Directly responsible for the overall care of about 10 clients assigned as delegated.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Lifting more weight up to 100 pounds requires assistance
• Ability to read fine print on tablet, progress notes and/or medical labels
