Job summary

TEEMA is seeking a flexible Primary Care Physician (Locum Tenens) to provide comprehensive outpatient care across multiple site locations in California. You will manage preventive care, chronic disease, and acute issues with a patient-centered approach and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

Expect structured clinic hours, Monday–Friday schedule, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, and coverage for two days per week with potential for additional shifts.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an accredited Family Medicine or Internal Medicine residency.
• Active and unrestricted state medical license (or ability to obtain).
• DEA registration (or ability to obtain).
• Board Certified or Board Eligible.
• Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred).

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive primary care services across acute and chronic conditions.
• Provide preventive care, wellness visits, and health screenings for all ages.
• Manage chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, COPD, and cardiovascular disease.
• Prescribe medications and develop evidence-based treatment plans.
• Order, review, and interpret labs and diagnostic studies.
• Coordinate care with specialists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.
• Document encounters accurately in the EMR.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses and treatment plans.

The Primary Care Physician (Locum Tenens) provides comprehensive, patient-centered medical care in an outpatient clinical setting. This role focuses on preventive care, chronic disease management, and acute care services for patients across the lifespan. The physician works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, coordinated care while supporting clinic coverage needs across multiple sites.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive primary care services, including evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic conditions

Provide preventive care, wellness visits, and health screenings for patients of all ages

Manage chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, COPD, and cardiovascular disease

Prescribe medications and develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans

Order, review, and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic studies

Coordinate patient care with specialists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals

Document all patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR)

Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and preventive health strategies

Participate in team meetings and care coordination efforts as needed

Maintain compliance with clinical quality standards and regulatory requirements

Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school

Completion of an accredited Family Medicine or Internal Medicine residency

Strong clinical judgment, communication, and documentation skills

Desired Qualifications

Preferred: Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience in primary care

Comfort working autonomously in certain clinical settings

Experience in outpatient primary care environments

Experience working with elderly or medically complex patient populations

Familiarity with value-based care or population health models

Comfort working in team-based clinical environments

Experience with electronic medical record systems

Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish or other languages is a plus

Schedule & Flexibility

Minimum commitment: Guaranteed two (2) days per week

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Flexibility required, as clinic demand may vary

Floating Requirement

Provider must be willing to float between up to three clinic sites as needed

Mileage reimbursement will be provided

Average patient load: Approximately 20 patients per day

Patient population: All ages
