Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a dedicated physician to provide evidence-based primary care across age groups in an outpatient setting. You will diagnose, treat, and coordinate care while guiding patients through prevention and wellness plans.

The role requires an MD or DO with board eligibility in Family or Internal Medicine, Virginia licensure, and DEA registration. EPIC experience is preferred; strong teamwork and communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
  • US residency completion in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
  • Current, unrestricted Virginia medical license, or eligibility for licensure.
  • Current DEA registration or eligibility to obtain prior to start date.
  • BLS certification through AHA or Red Cross, or ability to obtain within timeframe.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills with patient‑centered care.
  • Bilingual skills may be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive, evidence-based primary care for adolescents, adults, and geriatrics in an outpatient setting.
  • Coordinate care, transitions, population health initiatives, and quality goals.
  • Diagnose and manage common conditions using evidence-based standards.
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests as indicated.
  • Prescribe medications and therapies per laws and organizational policies.
  • Educate patients on prevention, health maintenance, nutrition, and adherence.
  • Maintain accurate EMR documentation; EPIC experience preferred.
  • Participate in meetings and quality/safety improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with leadership to enhance clinic efficiency and patient access.
  • Participate in call coverage and teaching activities as applicable.

Job description

  • Provides comprehensive, evidence-based primary care services for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in an outpatient practice setting
  • Delivers preventive care, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic conditions
  • Coordinates care, transitional care management, and supports population health and quality initiatives in alignment with organizational goals
  • Evaluates, diagnoses, and manages common medical conditions seen in family medicine or internal medicine practice using evidence‑based clinical standards
  • Performs age‑ and condition‑appropriate history and physical examinations and develops individualized treatment plans
  • Orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic and screening tests as clinically indicated
  • Prescribes medications and other therapies in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies
  • Provides counseling and education regarding disease prevention, health maintenance, nutrition, medication adherence, and lifestyle modification
  • Reviews and responds to laboratory, imaging, medication refill, referral, and patient message workflows in a timely manner
  • Maintains accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic medical record; EPIC experience preferred, training provided as applicable
  • Participates in departmental, medical group, and hospital meetings, including quality, safety, access, patient experience, and performance improvement initiatives
  • Supports organizational goals related to patient access, panel management, productivity, clinical quality metrics, and patient satisfaction
  • Collaborates with clinical and administrative leadership to promote efficient practice operations and a high‑reliability care environment
  • Supervises and/or collaborates with advanced practice providers, nursing staff, medical assistants, and other care team members as assigned
  • Participates in call coverage, inbox coverage, and other physician coverage responsibilities consistent with practice and organizational standards
  • Participates in education activities and, where applicable, supports the teaching of students and/or residents
Requirements
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathic medicine
  • Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
  • Successful completion of an accredited United States residency program in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
  • Current, unrestricted Virginia medical license, or eligibility for Virginia licensure
  • Current DEA registration, or eligibility to obtain prior to start date
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or ability to obtain within required timeframe
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills with a commitment to patient‑centered care
  • Candidate must demonstrate commitment to clinical quality, service excellence, professionalism, and collaboration across the healthcare system
  • Bilingual skills may be considered an asset based on community and practice needs
