Job summary

Metro Community Health Center is seeking a Primary Care Physician in Pittsburgh, PA to deliver high-quality patient care across the lifecycle. You will assess, diagnose and manage medical conditions, coordinate labs and imaging, and document care in the EHR with a patient-centered approach.

You will collaborate with mental health services, lead preventive care efforts, and contribute to community health programs while maintaining PA licensure and strong clinical skills.

Qualifications

  • M.D. or D.O. from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed to practice family medicine in Pennsylvania.
  • Proficient in office management, computers and EMR systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive physical assessments, diagnose and treat patients.
  • Initiate labs and imaging; coordinate with specialists as needed.
  • Prescribe care and referrals; input progress notes in the EHR.
  • Provide health education to patients and families; teach staff.
  • Participate in community health education and disaster response.

The individual will administer to the needs of patients by following the scope of practice and standards of care accurately. The physician will provide the highest level of care to ensure the quality of cost-effective programs and services at all stages of the lifecycle, including other duties, tasks or projects, as needed.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Comprehensive physical assessment; evaluating, diagnosing, and treating new and existing patient's health conditionsSupport integration and collaboration of Primary Care Providers and Mental Health ServicesInitiating and interpreting labs and x-ray studies including CTs & MRIsPerforming medical proceduresPrescribing and referring patients for specialized consultationInput progress notes on patients in the EHR indicating patient status and treatment procedures performedConducting follow-up patient careProviding health education to patients and familiesSupervising and/or coordinating the activities of patient care and support staff within the clinicTeaching and training illness preventionActively participate in community health education.Performing emergency life-saving procedures in cases such as cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, massive hemorrhage, or similar emergenciesAre among front line medical providers in emergency disaster servicesDemonstrate a high level of skill at building relationships and customer serviceDemonstrate interpersonal savvy and influence skills in managing difficult clients and patients.Demonstrate high degree of knowledge and competency in the practice of medicine and associated charting requirementsRequisite skills and ability to perform certain medical tasks as assignedDemonstrate a high level of problem-solving skill to better serve patients and staffStrong attention to detail and accuracyAbility to utilize computers for data entry and information retrievalExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to implement and evaluate operational and administrative processesQualificationsPOSITION REQUIREMENTS:Education/Experience:M.D. or D.O. from an accredited educational institutionLicensed to practice family medicine in the State of PennsylvaniaSkills/Abilities:Demonstrated expertise in best clinical/health practices, protocols, trends and best practices in clinical areas assignedDemonstrated knowledge and success in effecting overall clinical operations.Experience/Knowledge of required accreditation process and requirements, as well as all federal, state and local regulations and standards associated with the delivery of care in a community health center environmentAbility to manage multiple responsibilities and emergency situations successfullyProficiency in knowledge of office management, use of computer and EMR’sPhysical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to manipulate objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.
