Job summary

UC Davis Health is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to provide independent, advanced clinical expertise across primary care settings. You will manage chronic conditions, routine and acute care, and participate in education for patients and staff in a team-based environment.

Position focuses on independent decision-making after assessment, with collaboration with attending physicians. On-site work across UC Davis Health locations, with flexible hours and strong emphasis on documentation

Qualifications

  • Three years of Primary Care NP experience.
  • California RN license without restrictions.
  • California NP Furnishing License.
  • California NP board certification.
  • DEA license within 3 months of hire.
  • AHA or Red Cross BLS, or UC Davis Health CPR.
  • National NP board certification in aligned specialty.
  • Master’s degree in nursing or higher.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical practice accounts for 90% of duties.
  • Other professional activity accounts for 10% of duties.

Job Summary

To provide independent advanced level nurse practitioner clinical expertise to patients and their families on an on-going basis. This includes the management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and specialty protocols (e.g., chemotherapy) as defined by standardized procedures or independently based on licensure. This may include non-invasive or invasive procedures, surgical procedures, including operative first assist per approved standardized procedures as identified by the list available on the Medical Staff Office. Patient management decisions are independent where appropriate after assessment of the patient and interdependent with consultation with an attending or other member of the team. NPs are expected to act as an expert resource person for health care providers including nurses, residents and other ancillary staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of Primary Care (in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine) as a NP active within the last 6 months.
  • Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction
  • California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing License
  • California Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) without restriction
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Certificate within 3 months of hire
  • American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
  • National NP board certification in aligned specialty with the practice area
  • Graduation with a master’s degree, DNP or PhD in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Ability to cope with personal stress experienced by team members, other professionals, and caretakers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Judgement skills to effectively meet the needs of patients
  • Self-direction and organizational skills to function in an independent role
  • Ability to meet minimum standards for hospital credentialing and billing standards as a billable provider
  • Ability to work flexible hours and in multiple clinical locations

Express Care In-Person offers extended clinic hours to primary care patients across all primary care clinic locations.

Department Specific Job Scope

Care for patients within scope of practice, manage inbox in a timely manner, close charts within 7 days with appropriate documentation and billing practices, provide support to other providers as needed/directed by Clinic Medical Director or Clinic Leadership. Provide primary patient care across all CPG locations including some Saturdays and evening hours.
