Job summary

Long Beach VA Health Care System is seeking full-time Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN) for the Primary Care Department. The role involves performing nursing procedures, medication administration, and patient care within a VA setting.

The position requires graduation from an approved practical or vocational nursing program, active licensure, English proficiency, and adherence to VA standards. Duties include data collection, vital signs, treatments, and documentation in the medical record.

Qualifications

• Prepares and administers prescribed medications (oral - topical - subcutaneous - intramuscular and/or intravenous) and performs treatments.
• Observes and evaluates for physical and/or behavioral changes from prescribed medications and treatments.

Responsibilities

• Performs a full range of nursing procedures such as data collection that contributes to the assessment, vital signs, treatments, and specimen collection.
• Documents changes in patient’s condition and reports these to the RN or provider.
• Participates in interdisciplinary planning and uses clinical information systems as assigned.
