Job summary

Core & Main, based in St. Louis, is seeking a data analyst to gather disparate data from multiple sources, normalize it for quality, and provide accurate data and definitions for analysis.

You will deliver consistent, relevant insights and support data governance across the organization. Responsibilities include compiling raw data, researching industry trends, generating reports with charts and maps, and presenting findings that inform policy and decision-making.

Qualifications

• BS/BA typically required.
• Typical 2–3 years of experience; certification is required in some areas or MS/MA with generally 1–2 years of experience in a related field.
• Certification is required in some areas.

• Serves as a resource to assigned client in area of expertise.
• Gathers and compiles raw data; conducts research for industry trends and benchmarks; and normalizes data to be incorporated into a centralized data format.
• Analyzes, reports, makes comparisons to industry/company benchmarks, determines trends, and prepares cost analyses.
• Defines data definitions and documents data limitations.
• Prepares spreadsheets for data analysis; prepares reports with charts and graphs, mailing lists, maps and ad hoc requests. May make presentations.
• Provides recommendations based on findings and analysis; provides input on policies and procedures.
• Participates in department and interdepartmental projects.

Job Summary

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in working with spreadsheets, databases, strong understanding of financial concepts and data.
• Experience in aggregating large volumes of operational/financial/customer data for analysis.
• Experience with data analysis in large distribution businesses.
• Certification on database/analysis tools.
• Knowledge of Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Internet research.

Environmental Job Requirements

• Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
• No travel required.
• Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
