Position Overview:

*This is a part-time position based in Philadelphia, PA.

The Prevention Specialist is responsible for facilitating, implementing, and evaluating programs and strategies by providing school-based prevention programming in K-12 schools for students and their caregivers. This role involves collaboration with schools, community organizations, healthcare providers, and local government agencies to promote awareness, education, and healthy lifestyle choices. The specialist will focus on prevention education through classroom sessions, assemblies, and community events to reduce substance use and its negative impacts. Individuals with lived experience, including those in recovery, are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma required; a college degree is preferred.
• Knowledge of the disease model of addiction.
• Certification in substance use prevention (e.g., Prevention Specialist Certification) is a plus.
• Strong understanding of substance use prevention, mental health, and community health strategies.
• Experience working with youth, families, and community organizations.
• Preferably in long-term recovery from substance use.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
• Knowledge of local resources and referral services for individuals affected by substance use.
• Willingness and ability to travel within the Philadelphia, PA region.
