Prevention Programs Field Representative Overview:

The individual selected for this position will work in the Prevention Division of Central Office located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS). Under general supervision, the individual will work with community-based substance use prevention programs, specifically community-based organizations, and others. This position works with partners to plan and develop needed prevention services, provides and/or links with technical assistance and training, and monitors existing programs. Assures compliance with ODMHSAS standards, evidence-based strategy requirements, and other applicable governing/codified standards in managing and delivering prevention services.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in social work, sociology, human relations, psychology, public health, public administration, education, or a related field.
  • 4 years of professional experience in the behavioral health field, with two years of substance abuse prevention or other related prevention or public health experience.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with communities, community coalitions, law enforcement, and community-serving organizations.
  • Preference may be given to applications who are a Certified Prevention Specialist.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree and three years of professional experience in social work, child support, adult protective services, child welfare, early childhood development and education, guidance and counseling, nursing, intellectual disability, probation and parole, public administration, community-based prevention and diversionary youth services programs, juvenile justice, rehabilitation counseling, vocational evaluation or vocational rehabilitation,
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of additional qualifying experience for each year of the required education.
