Thurston County Pretrial Services seeks aPretrial Services Officer II as part of its Pretrial Screening and Supervision Team. This team provides information to Thurston County courts and supervises justice-involved clients with the goals of ensuring that these individuals successfully appear in court and remain arrest-free while on pretrial release.
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Conducting screenings for individuals involved in criminal cases by conducting record checks, verifying information, and completing pretrial risk assessments.
- Supervising clients on pretrial release based on risk classification system.
- Monitoring client compliance with court ordered conditions of release and files violation reports as needed. Submitting written reports to the Court and counsel.
- Making referrals to community service providers.
- Verifying that court orders have been followed, including documenting compliance and recommended actions.
- Accessing criminal history databases.
- Maintaining accurate files and ensuring court documentation is filed in a timely manner.
- May assign cases to Pretrial Services Officers.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work Environment –Quiet office setting in Olympia, Washington. Hybrid work schedule may be requested after successful completion of probation.
- Schedule -Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Workload demands may occasionally require work outside the assigned work hours.
- Travel Requirements –Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings or trainings.
- Customer Interactions -Daily interactions via phone and in-person with Thurston County staff, individuals involved in the criminal justice system, and the general public

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in behavioral or social sciences, criminal justice, or public administration. Additional applicable experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
- Must have completed course work in substance use, mental health, and/or domestic violence studies.
- Five (5) years of experience in the criminal justice or social services field interviewing, counseling or supervising justice-involved individuals.
- Must be able to pass background clearance to for access to enter corrections facility and run criminal history.
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Knowledge of local, state & federal criminal laws, confidentiality requirements, local court rules and administrative codes.
