Job summary

EVAPCO, Inc. is seeking a Certified Pressure Boundary Welder for the 3rd shift to perform tube, header, and pipe welds/assembly under supervision. You will follow verbal and written work instructions and basic engineering drawings to ensure quality welds for high-pressure equipment.

Responsibilities include setting up joints per B31.5, testing welded joints, and maintaining records. You will work with MIG/TIG, cranes, and hand tools, and may travel for training; certification within 60 days is

Qualifications

• Qualified as Evapco Certified Pressure Boundary Welder per B31.5 standards.
• HS diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read tape measures to 1/32 inch.
• Ability to read micrometers, dial calipers, and weld gauges.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and BOMs.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

• Maintain accurate records/reports.
• Safely operate overhead cranes and jib hoists.
• Perform housekeeping and basic PM duties.
• Meet safety, quality and productivity targets.
• Participate in team and shop problem-solving activities.
• Attend training courses and travel as directed.
• Follow all written and oral instructions.
• May perform other duties.

Certified Pressure Boundary Welder

Shift: 3rd Shift

Job Summary:

Work under general supervision, perform tube. header, and pipe connection welds/assembly. Follow and correctly execute both verbal and written work instructions and basic engineering drawings.

Knowledge, Skills, & Experience

• Qualified as an Evapco Certified Pressure Boundary Welder per B31.5 standards
• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent, is required
• Use, read, and comprehend a tape measure to within 1/32”, is required
• Use, read, and comprehend micrometers, dial calipers, and weld gauges
• Demonstrate the math ability to convert decimals to fractions & fractions to decimals
• Basic nomenclature and practical use of hand tools, is required
• Reading and understanding engineering drawings and BOM’s, is required
• Bilingual (English/Spanish), is preferred

Essential Functions

• Prepare all weld joints in accordance with B31.5 standards/directives
• Weld all joints in accordance with B31.5 standards/directives
• Clean and test all welded joints in accordance with B31.5 standards/directives
• Perform high pressure testing on welded evaporator and eco-Air units and make weld repairs to joints as required, per B31.5 standards/directives
• Read and comprehend various engineering and production documents, drawings, and instructions
• Complete all required certifications and achieve full certification status within 60 days
• Perform set-up and dimensional and visual inspection of parts, assemblies, and final product as directed
• Maintain accurate records/reports as directed
• Required to safely operate overhead cranes and jib boom hoists
• Perform housekeeping and basic PM duties as assigned
• Meet or exceed annual safety, quality (leak rate), and productivity (weld quantity/efficiency) success targets
• Participate in team and shop business problem-solving activities that include quality, safety, scrap reduction, and process improvements
• Attend training courses as directed by management. This could include traveling to other facilities for training
• Follow all related written and oral work instructions
• May perform other duties, as assigned

Typical Working Conditions

• Indoor, manufacturing setting
• Working temperatures throughout the year range on average from mid-90’s to mid-40’s
• The wearing of gloves, welding helmets, welding leathers, sleeves, steel-toed shoes, hearing protection, and eye protection is required
• Work area includes movement of forklifts and overhead cranes
• Shift work, days or nights, Monday through Friday, and some voluntary Saturday’s and Sunday

Equipment Used

• Welding Power Supply (MIG and TIG)
• Power tools including rotating positional weld table
• Basic hand tools and measuring devices
• Operating hoists/overhead cranes
• Operating personal lifts
• Limited use of machine controls
