Job summary

Smurfit Westrock seeks a pressroom lead operator in Dallas to supervise daily operations and ensure safe, efficient production of high-quality products. You will work with maintenance and leadership to meet output and quality goals.

You will train operators, support line start-ups, troubleshoot production runs, and lead continuous improvement efforts. Strong English communication and basic computer skills are required; overtime may be necessary.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily pressroom operations to achieve production, quality, and safety objectives.
• Train and develop press operators and packers to adhere to standards.
• Support machine setup, start-up, troubleshooting, and production runs.
• Investigate equipment issues and implement preventative measures.
• Ensure crews have materials, resources, and information to perform work.
• Review production reporting and communicate updates to the team.
• Participate in LEAN, safety, and productivity improvement initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with policies, quality standards, housekeeping and LOTO.

The Opportunity

In this role, you will lead pressroom operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely production of high-quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations. You will serve as the technical expert and lead operator, helping train team members, improve processes, reduce downtime, and drive operational excellence. Working closely with operators, packers, maintenance, and production leadership, you will play a critical role in supporting productivity, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.

• Review production reporting for accuracy and communicate key operational updates to team members and supervisors.
• Participate in and lead LEAN manufacturing, safety, and productivity improvement initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with company policies, quality standards, housekeeping expectations, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of manufacturing machine operating experience
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to train and support team members
• Basic computer skills and ability to work with machine controls
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
• Willingness to work overtime as needed
• Ability to perform job duties safely with or without reasonable accommodation

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Previous lead operator or manufacturing leadership experience
• Experience with LEAN manufacturing or continuous improvement programs
• Printing, packaging, labeling, or converting industry experience
