Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience operating sheetfed offset presses.
• At least 2 years operating a Heidelberg Speedmaster CX 104 or similar Heidelberg press.
• Strong knowledge of color control, registration, ink and water balance, and offset printing processes.
• Experience performing make-ready, routine maintenance, and press troubleshooting.
• Ability to read job tickets and follow detailed production specifications.

Responsibilities

• Operate the Heidelberg Speedmaster CX 104 safely and efficiently while meeting quality standards and production deadlines.
• Review job tickets, confirm specifications, and prepare materials before production.
• Perform make-ready, including plate mounting, ink and coating setup, feeder adjustments, registration, and color matching.
• Use Impress Control and other color measurement tools to maintain consistent color and print quality.
• Monitor press performance and adjust settings to improve productivity, reduce make-ready time, and minimize waste.
• Troubleshoot press and print quality issues, escalating maintenance needs when necessary.
• Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, inspections, and preventive maintenance.
• Lead the assigned press crew, coordinate tasks, and provide hands-on training and guidance.
• Work closely with Production, Prepress, and Bindery to keep jobs moving smoothly.
• Maintain accurate production records, material usage, and downtime logs.
• Keep the press and surrounding work area clean, organized, and safe.

Precision Services Group (PSG) is seeking an experienced Lead Press Operator to run our new Heidelberg Speedmaster CX 104 6-color UV press with coater and Impress Control. This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who takes pride in producing exceptional work, keeping the press running efficiently, and leading a strong press crew.

Founded in 1979, PSG provides commercial printing, direct mail, large format, finishing, warehousing, and fulfillment services. Join our team at our Fullerton facility and work with advanced equipment on a wide range of customer projects.

Required Experience and Skills

• At least 5 years of experience operating sheetfed offset printing presses.
• At least 2 years of experience operating a Heidelberg Speedmaster CX 104 or comparable Heidelberg press.
• Strong knowledge of color control, registration, ink and water balance, and offset printing processes.
• Experience performing make‑ready, routine maintenance, and press troubleshooting.
• Ability to read job tickets and follow detailed production specifications.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to lead a press crew and communicate clearly with other departments.
• Basic computer skills for entering production information.
• Availability to work overtime and flexible schedules as production requires.

Preferred Experience

• UV printing and inline coating.
• Heidelberg Impress Control or similar automated color control systems.
• Advanced Heidelberg press training.
• Commercial printing, packaging, or folding carton production.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

This position involves standing and walking for extended periods; bending, reaching, and climbing as needed; and regularly lifting or moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Accurate color perception is necessary to evaluate print quality.

Work takes place in a production environment with moving equipment, noise, paper dust, inks, coatings, and cleaning materials.
