Job description

We are excited to be hiring a Day Press Operator. This position will work 6pm-6am on a 2, 2, 3 schedule. The Press Operator is responsible for the set-up, operation, and maintenance of all presses and related production equipment. This individual is also responsible for the safety, quality, and productivity of the machine.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Performs standard set-up, maintenance, and operation of the press; optimizing press for maximum efficiency, including compliance with equipment specifications, safety, and company procedures.
  2. Reviews and coordinates job requirements with client specifications to ensure the highest quality work.
  3. Performs press checks including effective and clear communication.
  4. Helps develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for job-related functions, processes, and/or recommends method efficiencies and process improvements.
  5. Operates presses and production equipment according to safety policies, procedures, and rules; including the use of appropriate safety equipment. Maintains a safe working environment at all times.
  6. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Responsibilities:
  1. Receives instructions, material requirements, prints, and work orders for the job.
  2. Plans details of working procedure.
  3. Performs routine maintenance and machine set-up when necessary.
  4. Operates machine to perform necessary jobs on parts according to instructions and blueprint specifications.
  5. Performs first piece inspection using appropriate methods to ensure all dimensions are correct and within tolerances.
  6. Makes fine adjustments to the machine to bring parts within tolerances.
  7. Places finished material on a pallet or in a container with the work order and piece part number.
  8. Moves material to the next destination and stages as required.
Desired Experience:
  1. Ability to lead by example, coach, and train.
  2. Ability to read production logs and accurately document required information.
  3. Above-average knowledge of machine processes and steel defects.
  4. Ability to write accurate reject reports.
  5. Ability to handle problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  6. Ability to read blueprints and understand instructions and brief correspondence.
  7. Ability to perform all required quality checks and surface inspections of materials.
  8. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
  9. Specific vision abilities required include seeing small details, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  10. Forklift and crane training will be provided.
  11. Required OSHA safety training.
  12. First Responder Training (First Aid and CPR) may be required.
  13. Must have a valid driver's license.
