Qualifications

• Previous press operator experience is preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist Press Operators to maintain workflow and print quality on assigned press runs.
• Bring materials for press setups to press sites and clean presses during job changes.
• Perform setup, operation, and feeding of cylinder-type printing presses to produce a variety of products.
• Operate printing press equipment according to procedures and guidelines.
• Direct Press Helpers according to procedures and monitor print quality during runs.
• Set up jobs with assistance and check first-piece conformance to specifications.
• Perform daily and periodic preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness of machines and work areas and follow GMPs and SOPs.
• Report safety issues and participate in GPS activities as required.

Job description

Position: Press Operator
Location: Elk Grove Village
Shift: Night Shift | 5:45 PM - 6:15 AM | 12-hour continental shift (3 days one week, 4 days the following, off every other weekend)
Pay Rate: $28.98/hour + $2.00/hour shift differential

Retention Bonus:
To reward long-term commitment, this position offers a $2,000 retention bonus , paid as follows:

• $1,000 after successfully completing 90 days of employment
• $1,000 after successfully completing 180 days of employment

Please note: This is a retention bonus and is not paid at the time of hire.

Summary Description

The Press Operator reports directly to the Department Manager and is responsible for supporting press operations, maintaining workflow and print quality, and safely operating printing equipment according to company procedures and standards.

What You'll Be Doing

• Assist Press Operators to maintain workflow and print quality on assigned press runs
• Bring materials for press setups to press sites
• Clean presses during job changes
• Perform setup, operation, and feeding of cylinder-type printing presses to produce a variety of products
• Operate printing press equipment according to company printing procedures and guidelines
• Direct Press Helpers according to company printing procedures
• Set up jobs with assistance and monitor print quality while the press is running
• Maintain responsibility for quality and safe operating procedures during setup and production
• Communicate job status and critical details with the opposite shift operator during shift changes
• Check first-piece conformance to specifications
• Perform daily and periodic preventive maintenance on assigned equipment
• Maintain cleanliness of machines and adjacent work areas
• Utilize satellite containers for hazardous waste handling
• Follow equipment cleaning and sanitation procedures and complete sanitation checklists
• Follow GMPs, PRPs, and production SOPs
• Conduct and document all quality checks for intermediate product
• Follow CCP monitoring procedures
• Refer production difficulties to group leader or supervisor for analysis and correction
• Report all food safety violations to management
• Follow all safety rules
• Participate in TOPPAN's Global Performance System (GPS) activities including 5Star, pillar teams, audits, and near misses
• Maintain regular attendance and punctuality
• Perform other duties as assigned

• You have strong mechanical aptitude
• You have excellent math skills
• You can speak, read, and write English proficiently
• Previous press operator experience is preferred
• You can perform moderate to heavy physical work, including lifting up to 60 pounds
• You have strong communication skills
• You can maintain continuous mental and visual attention throughout the shift
• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required. Candidates who demonstrate the necessary manufacturing experience and the required literacy, numeracy, and technical skills will be considered regardless of educational background.
