Job summary

Steel Technologies is seeking a Press Operator to set up, operate and monitor our presses. You will reconcile coil identity, load coils, and ensure correct gauge, width, and surface quality per customer and production specs.

You'll set up dies, align parts and conveyors, monitor blanks, and adjust setups for quality. The role requires familiarity with measurement tools and safety rules; team-oriented and able to work extended shifts in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of SPC – X̄ and R charts and basic distribution analysis.
• Knowledge of raw materials, blanking processes and quality standards.
• Knowledge of steel press machines and major components.
• Ability to follow safety rules and requirements.
• Ability to use tape measures, Rockwell tester, calipers, indicators and micrometers.
• Ability to read material tags and production instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with teammates and supervisors.
• Ability to see details at close range and work on stairs or platforms.
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds occasionally and move heavy parts.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operates and monitors the press.
• Reconcile coil identity to production and load coil.
• Check gauge, width, hardness, camber, burr and surface compliance.
• Set up dies and align parts and scrap chutes/conveyors.
• Adjust press setups to maintain quality.
• Monitor blanks for customer/production requirements.
• Assist maintenance to troubleshoot malfunctions.
• Communicate non-compliance or quality issues to supervision.
• Maintain housekeeping in the press area.
