Job summary

Mondi Group is seeking a production support role to assist in operating and troubleshooting Printing Press equipment, ensuring on-time production and quality for bags. The candidate will help in press setup, monitoring, and basic maintenance while following SQF safety and hygiene guidelines.

Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma, strong attention to detail, and the ability to read instructions and interpret forms.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Operator in print specification checks to ensure print placement and ink shade accuracy.
  • Comply with all safety rules, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Ensure correct ink and paper are used for each order.
  • Make minor press adjustments to maintain speed and quality.
  • Monitor bag quality during production with inspections and checks.
  • Read plant order information accurately and complete required forms.
  • Perform housekeeping duties in the work area.
  • Retrieves cylinders, installs/removes them in/from press, and adjusts press setup.
  • Troubleshoot machine issues and assist with repairs.
  • Follow SQF policies including food safety, hygiene and auditing.

Qualification Requirements

JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Assists the Operator in specifications checks to ensure print and placement of print, and ink shade is correct.
  • Comply with all safety rules, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Ensure that the correct ink and paper are being used for the order being run.
  • Makes minor press adjustments as needed to maintain press speed and quality.
  • Monitors the quality of the bags during the production run through bag checks and other methods.
  • Must be able to accurately read and interpret plant order information and complete required forms.
  • Performs housekeeping duties in work area, including sweeping, mopping, picking up and disposing of trash.
  • Pulls a sample of print and folds a sample bag.
  • Retrieves cylinders from the Proof Mounting area, installs cylinders in the press, and removes cylinders from the press after the printing run.
  • Sets impressions, registers print, sets and adjusts the slitter as needed.
  • Troubleshoots machine issues and assists in repairs.
  • Understands and follows all SQF policies and procedures including, but not limited to, procedures for food safety, housekeeping, personal hygiene, and auditing.
  • Understands and follows lockout – tagout procedures for assigned equipment.
  • Verifies ink shade is correct.
  • Verifies paper and ink are correct and installs paper and ink on the press.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Department Supervisor or Manager.
Background / Experience
  • Manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail abilities
Education / Knowledge
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Specific Skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to use hand truck, drum dolly, and electric pallet jack.
  • Ability to use a computer, and to understand and use computer software.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
Schedule Demands
  • Work schedules are normally 8 or 12 hours.
  • May be scheduled for rotating days off.
  • Ability to work any day, including weekends.
  • Able to work any shift, including overnight shifts.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed, including extra hours on short notice.
Physical Demands
  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Awkward and/or repetitive movements.
  • Climbing ladders and/or stairways.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment.
  • Work in areas of fluctuating temperature.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (including but not limited to steel toe shoes, earplugs, safety glasses, and hairnet)
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands arms. The employee is required to communicate with coworkers. The employee is occasionally required to stoop or kneel.
Work Environment
  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • Moderate heat (up to 100 to 110 degrees in the summer months).
  • Noise levels of up to 90 decibels.
