Job summary

RRD is seeking a press operator to operate gravure and multi‑color offset presses to produce single‑ to multi‑color printed work at our Durham, NC facility. You will set up, adjust, and maintain presses to meet color values and registration, perform make‑ready tasks, and ensure quality standards.

We offer a national pay range of $27.00–$45.00 per hour with a $2,000 sign‑on bonus, plus medical/dental/vision, 401(k) with match, paid time off, disability insurance, life insurance, tuition

Qualifications

• Knowledge of gravure and multi-color offset press operation and maintenance.
• Ability to set up presses to meet color values and registration.
• Proficiency with micrometer-based plate mounting and alignment.
• Reading and interpreting job specifications for proper press settings.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, and maintain gravure or multi-color offset presses.
• Review job specs and establish press setup based on run imposition.
• Perform make-ready tasks: hang plates, install cylinders, check plates/cylinders.
• Make color corrections and press adjustments to meet quality specs.
• Clean, lubricate, and maintain presses; perform minor repairs and routine maintenance.

Job Description

Operate gravure and multi‑color offset presses to produce single‑color, two‑color, and multi‑color printed work, including large solids, screen tints, line, and halftones. Responsibilities include:

• Set up, adjust, and maintain a gravure press or multi‑color offset press to meet critical color values and registration requirements.
• Review job specifications and establish press setup according to the imposition of the run.
• Perform make‑ready tasks, such as hanging plates, installing cylinders, and checking plate/cylinder conditions.
• Make color corrections and press adjustments prior to production to meet quality specifications.
• Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press, including minor repairs and replacement of worn parts.
• Perform periodic maintenance as recommended by the manufacturer.

Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge of techniques, procedures, materials, specifications, equipment, and safety requirements for press operation and maintenance.
• Skill in complex manipulations and mechanical procedures for setup, adjustment, routine maintenance, and minor repairs.
• Ability to read and interpret job specifications and select appropriate press settings and materials.
• Proficiency in using a micrometer to mount and align printing plates accurately.

Compensation and Benefits

National pay range: $27.00 – $45.00 per hour. Sign‑on bonus: $2,000. Compensation may vary by location, education, skills, experience, performance, shift, and other factors.
