Job summary

American Packaging Corporation is seeking a Press Operator 2 (WH2) to assist in operating the press on 12-hour day shifts. The role requires basic education and willingness to learn SOPs, with emphasis on safety and accuracy in daily tasks.

Candidates will hang substrates, run the press to specifications, complete paperwork, and support the operator to meet targets. Must read and write reports, follow safety rules, and be able to stand for long periods in Story City, IA.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; 1–3 months related experience or training, or equivalent combination.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures.
  • Ability to write routine reports and to communicate effectively with teammates.

Responsibilities

  • Support operator’s efforts to meet budgeted targets.
  • Hang substrates on press.
  • Know register control system and run press to approved specifications.
  • Fill out all daily reports, final release, consumption reports, and roll tickets.
  • Follow all safety rules and participate in safety programs.
  • Prep print carriages and make up doctor blades.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUMMARY: Assist operator in operation of the press.

Press Operator 2 (WH2)

SHIFT: 12 hr Days

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support operator’s efforts to meet budgeted targets.
  • Hang substrates on press.
  • Know register control system.
  • Understand all SOP's and to be trained in them.
  • Run press to approved specifications.
  • Properly fill out all paperwork, daily reports, final release, consumption reports, and roll tickets.
  • Know and follow all safety rules.
  • Prep print carriages.
  • Make up doctor blades.
  • Actively participates in safety programs and makes safety observations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
