Job summary

Pyrotek is seeking a Press Operator to process Tinplate and Wire-mesh material into finished and semi-finished products using slitting, cutting, and punching techniques. You will read work orders, follow technical drawings, and maintain quality and efficiency on a fast-paced line. Ideal candidates will have at least one year in manufacturing, proficiency with basic blueprints, and math skills.

OSHA/ISO aware, with focus on safety and continuous improvement. Forklift cert may be required.

Qualifications

  • One (1) year of manufacturing, production, or machine operation experience preferred.
  • Experience operating industrial machinery in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply information from work orders, basic blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude including basic arithmetic and unit conversions.
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Basic computer proficiency for production tracking and labor reporting.
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification.

Responsibilities

  • Operate punch presses and other production equipment used in slitting, cutting, and punching tinplate and wire-mesh materials.
  • Read and interpret work orders and basic drawings to ensure accurate product specifications.
  • Monitor production output and achieve established hourly production goals.
  • Record material usage, labor hours, and production data using tracking systems and computer applications.
  • Perform in-process quality inspections and measurements to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Identify equipment issues and communicate them to supervision.
  • Complete basic preventative maintenance tasks and maintain equipment cleanliness.
  • Maintain an organized workstation and adhere to safety, quality, and ISO procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to reduce waste and costs.

Job Description

The Press Operator will process Tinplate and Wire‑mesh material into finished and semi‑finished product via various slitting, cutting, and punching techniques.

Key Technical Responsibilities

  • Operate punch presses and other production equipment used in slitting, cutting, and punching tinplate and wire‑mesh materials.
  • Read and interpret work orders, production instructions, and basic technical drawings to ensure accurate product specifications.
  • Monitor production output and achieve established hourly production goals.
  • Record material usage, labor hours, and production data accurately using tracking systems and computer applications.
  • Perform in‑process quality inspections and measurements to ensure products meet specifications and tolerance requirements.
  • Identify equipment issues, machine malfunctions, or process concerns and promptly communicate them to supervision.
  • Complete basic preventative maintenance (PM) tasks and maintain equipment cleanliness.
  • Maintain an organized workstation and adhere to all safety, quality, and ISO‑related procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and lower costs.
Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • One (1) year of manufacturing, production, or machine operation experience preferred; equivalent training or experience will be considered.
  • Experience operating industrial machinery in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience operating industrial machinery in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply information from work orders, basic blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude, including:
    • Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
    • Unit conversions and measurements
    • Material and production calculations using a calculator
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Basic computer proficiency for:
    • Production tracking
    • Labor reporting
    • Material transactions
    • Employee self‑service applications
  • Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
  • Ability to work outside of standard schedule to meet department expectations and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating punch presses, slitters, cutters, or similar metal‑processing equipment.
  • Previous experience working with metal products, wire mesh, or related manufacturing materials.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices.
  • Experience working within ISO‑certified manufacturing environments.
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.

Physical/Sensory Requirements

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment around moving machinery and equipment.
  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, and handling materials.
  • Ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment and follow all safety procedures.
  • Capacity to perform repetitive tasks requiring hand‑eye coordination and manual dexterity.
