Job summary

Office of Congresswoman Sarah Elfreth in Washington, DC is seeking a Spring 2027 Press Intern to support day-to-day communications and media outreach.

You will compile daily news clips, draft and schedule social media content across platforms, assist with video production and photography, write press releases and talking points, maintain press lists, and help with special projects and administrative tasks. This is a paid internship in a fast-paced, inclusive office.

Qualifications

• Strong writing and editing skills are required.
• Familiarity with major social media platforms.
• Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Interest in communications, public service, and Maryland politics.
• Previous communications experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining and updating press lists
• Supporting the communications team with special projects and administrative tasks as needed
• Interns may also assist with general office duties, including answering phones, greeting visitors, attending hearings and briefings, and conducting Capitol tours.

Congresswoman Sarah Elfreth (MD-03) is seeking a Press Intern for her Washington, D.C. office for the Spring 2027 term (January - May). This is an excellent opportunity to join an office where interns play an integral role in day-to-day operations and communications strategy. We're looking for candidates who are organized, motivated, and eager to contribute to a dynamic and fast-paced team.

Press Intern Responsibilities May Include:

• Compiling daily news clips and tracking media coverage
• Drafting and scheduling social media content across platforms
• Assisting with video production and photography
• Writing press releases, newsletters, talking points, and other public-facing materials
• Maintaining and updating press lists
• Supporting the communications team with special projects and administrative tasks as needed

Interns may also assist with general office duties, including answering phones, greeting visitors, attending hearings and briefings, and conducting Capitol tours.
