Job summary

Our client is a field-forward underground utility contractor based in the Denver metro area, specializing in HDD and underground utility installation for telecommunications, fiber, water, and sewer infrastructure across Colorado, Wyoming, Texas, Montana, and New Mexico. You’ll be on job sites, leading from the front, with a General Manager handling day-to-day field execution.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of leadership experience in construction, underground utilities, or infrastructure/field services.
• A genuine "hunter" with existing industry relationships and a track record of winning new business.
• Hands-on experience with horizontal directional drilling or underground utility work strongly preferred.
• Comfort working with both large carriers and smaller regional providers in the fiber/telecom space.
• Strong financial fluency — able to own a P&L, read job cost reports, and manage budgets.
• A leadership style that's equal parts drive and warmth — someone who can earn the trust of an existing, close-knit field team.

Responsibilities

• Personally drive new business — build relationships with telecom carriers, regional fiber providers, utilities, and general contractors, and win direct work (not just subcontract assignments)
• Own the sales pipeline: target accounts, attend pre-bid meetings and industry events, and be the face of the company in the market
• Partner with the General Manager / Construction Manager to keep every project safe, on schedule, and profitable
• Know the numbers cold — job costing, project margins, budgets, and cash flow — and use them to drive decisions
• Lead, coach, and retain a field team that already trusts and respects its leadership
• Oversee equipment and fleet decisions, from day-to-day scheduling to major capital investments

This is a field-forward leadership role, not a desk job. You'll be on job sites, in front of customers, and leading from the front — while a General Manager and construction coordinators run day-to-day field execution alongside you.
