Job summary

PIH Health Whittier Hospital is seeking a licensed LVN to process medication refill requests for patients within PIH Health. You will review medical records, verify orders, and ensure refills align with protocols while documenting accurately in the patient record.

In this role, you will address adherence issues by contacting patients and practitioners, educate callers about PIH Health policies, and respond to incoming refill inquiries using nursing principles, ethics, and standard practice.

Qualifications

• Current California LVN license.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Card.
• Minimum 1 year of experience processing medication refills.
• Experience in direct nursing care in the medical office setting.

Responsibilities

• Process prescription refill requests as clinically appropriate.
• Review medical records to ensure refills follow orders and protocols.
• Identify issues with medication adherence and contact patients/practitioners as needed.
• Document refills accurately in the medical record.
• Educate callers about PIH Health’s refill policies and procedures.
• Answer incoming calls regarding medication refills from patients and pharmacies.
