Job summary

Spotsylvania County Public Schools invites applications for a Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI) Teacher in Fredericksburg, VA. The 10‑month (200 day) contract supports early childhood education with pathways to licensure and ongoing professional development.

You will design coherent instruction aligned to Virginia standards, assess student progress, and collaborate with a team to ensure a high‑quality preschool program for at‑risk children.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Ability to obtain appropriate license(s) and/or endorsement(s) as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and School Board
• An acceptable rating of prior teaching experience, as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Instructs students at assigned locations and times.
• Designs instruction aligned with Virginia Standards of Learning and division guidelines.
• Plans and prepares lessons with evidence of preparation on admin request.
• Diagnoses student needs and uses time and resources to match student abilities.
• Evaluates student progress and provides prompt feedback and progress reports.
• Uses varied assessments to guide instructional decisions and improve learning.
• Administers standardized tests per procedures.
• Communicates performance expectations and documents learning gains.
• Demonstrates understanding of curriculum and instructional practices.
• Creates meaningful learning experiences for all students.
