Job summary

The Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Plains in Brookings, SD, is seeking an Early Childhood Preschool Teacher. The role delivers Creative Curriculum, plans developmentally appropriate activities, and documents TSG GOLD assessments with the Early Childhood Specialist.

You will engage families, support ICPs, supervise children, and contribute to a warm, safe classroom. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, CDA or degree preferred, CPR/First Aid, and a background check.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; degree preferred.
• CDA credential required or must be obtained within first year.
• Knowledge of NAEYC Program Standards preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of experience with young children in group care.
• CPR/First Aid certification required or obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Satisfactory background check per SD DSS requirements.

Responsibilities

• Delivers Creative Curriculum with fidelity, planning experiences grounded in the curriculum framework.
• Plans and implements developmentally appropriate, play-based learning experiences across domains.
• Shares responsibility for TSG GOLD assessment documentation with the Early Childhood Specialist.
• Creates and maintains a warm, home-like classroom environment reflecting the 'environment as third teacher' philosophy.
• Engages families through daily communication, family conferences, and portfolio sharing.
• Implements Individualized Care Plans (ICPs) for children with identified support needs.
• Maintains active supervision in accordance with BGCNP policies and CFOC standards.
• Tracks and records CACFP meal and food service participation.
• Participates in professional development, team meetings, and reflective practice.
• Provides daily direction and guidance to Classroom Assistants.
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
• Supports transitions, meals, rest time, and routines with consistency and intentionality.
