Job summary

Sonoma County Office of Education is seeking an Education Specialist to join our team in California. The role requires a valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential with Early Childhood focus or an equivalent credential with EL authorization, and a solid teaching background.

Applicants must pass fingerprint clearance, a TB test, and a pre-employment physical. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus; driving requirements may apply depending on the position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; Masters Degree with emphasis in special education preferred.
• Three (3) years successful teaching experience working with a wide range of age groups and handicapping conditions is preferred.
• A valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential with the specialty areas of Early Childhood Special Education Specialty Area or a California Special Education Credential with the Early Childhood added authorization and an EL authorization are required.
• Must be fingerprinted and a satisfactory Department of Justice and FBI records checks must be received prior to employment.
• Proof of TB test will be required upon employment.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical prior to employment.
• Under some circumstances, further testing may be required to determine if an applicant is able to perform the essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
• May be required to obtain first aid and CPR certificates within the first 6-12 months of employment.
• May be required to drive with or without students; some positions may require a current California driver license, proof of insurance, and possible participation in the DMV Pull Notice Program once employed.
• A mandatory employment disclose by all former employers for the AB2534 must be completed prior to employment.
• Bilingual in Spanish is also preferred.
