Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must satisfactorily complete the Paraeducator Exam.
• Satisfactory completion of a state mandated health examination.

Responsibilities

• Record student data for IEPs and progress monitoring.
• Promote appropriate behavior patterns and habits.
• Assist in developing instructional materials for students.
• Provide instruction in small groups, large groups, or individually.
• Assist with meals and supervision to encourage independence at mealtime.
• Support students outside the classroom and during transportation.
• Care for instructional materials and maintain classroom cleanliness.
• Assist self-help and hygiene needs, including toileting when needed.
• Ensure safety; act as playground aide when required; maintain rapport with staff.
• Support and cooperate with the teacher and principal; perform related duties.
