Job summary

J.O. Combs Unified School District is seeking a Special Education Preschool Paraprofessional to support the EYC Teacher and students at Ranch Elementary School. The role is full-time, 24 hours per week, for a 10-month calendar, with the base pay per the Support Staff schedule.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED.
• Requires IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or ability to obtain one.
• ParaPro assessment or AA degree or 60 credits toward a 4-year degree.
• CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain.
• Tuberculosis test within 12 months or able to obtain.
• Minimum 6 months experience in recreation, childcare, or school program.
• Coursework in child development, recreation, education or related field is desirable.
• Positive personality and strong management skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and the public.
• Good organizational skills and ability to read/interpret educational documents.

Responsibilities

• Implements a variety of educational activities.
• Follows weekly lesson plans supporting classroom objectives.
• Communicates effectively with school and District staff.
• Maintains relationships with parents.
• Maintains discipline, safety, and control of the site.
• Develops rapport with students and facilitates communication.
• Maintains attendance records and files.
• Complies with Arizona Health Services and Department of Economic Services regulations.
• Encourages student participation in activities.
• Keeps the facility clean, organized, and secure.
• Sets up and takes down program furniture/equipment daily.
• Assists students with emergency evacuation drills.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings.

Education

High school diploma / GED

AA degree or 60 credits toward a 4-year degree

IVP fingerprint clearance card

CPR and First Aid

Completion of ParaPro or related coursework

Experience in organized recreation/school program

Positive attitude and strong management

Communication with staff, students, and public

Good organizational skills
