Job summary

Oshman Family Jewish Community Center (OFJCC) in Silicon Valley seeks a Preschool Program Supervisor to manage 4-5 classrooms and guide teachers in implementing the OFJCC vision and SHEVA framework.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s in ECE or related field, 5+ years preschool leadership experience, and strong leadership and communication skills. Hebrew language exposure is preferred, with occasional evening/weekend work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or a related field required; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 24 ECE/CD Units with core coursework.
  • 16 General Education Units including humanities, social sciences, math/science, English arts.
  • 6 Specialization Units in infant/toddler care, bilingual development, or exceptional needs.
  • 2 Adult Supervision Units covering supervision of adults in a classroom.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise 4-5 classrooms including Ulpanon and Gesher.
  • Lead team meetings on curriculum planning, documentation, and problem-solving childcare.
  • Observe and evaluate teachers; provide ongoing feedback and growth trainings.
  • Create and facilitate workshops focusing on program goals and best practices.
  • Provide classroom coverage to meet staffing and ratio needs.

The job:

As the Preschool Program Supervisor, you will manage 4-5 (Ulpanon and Gesher) specific classrooms to ensure Preschool teachers are implementing the OFJCC Leslie Family Preschool vision, guiding principles and SHEVA Early Learning Framework through proper training and assistance with curriculum development.

The Core Duties:
  • Supervise 4-5 classrooms including but not limited to Ulpanon and Gesher
  • Lead and facilitate team meetings focused on curriculum planning, documentation processes and problem-solving childcare situations. Ensure meetings are reflective and drive collaboration.
  • Supervise, coach, observe and evaluate teachers through regular classroom observations, ongoing feedback and continuing professional growth trainings that support the teachers. Provide guidance when teachers are managing through challenging educational situations and assist with solutions.
  • Create, design, lead and facilitate workshops and training opportunities that focus on program goals and preschool best practices.
  • Provide classroom coverage when necessary due to staffing and ratio requirements.
The Essentials:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or a related field required; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 24 ECE/CD Units: Must include core coursework (child growth and development; child, family, and community; and program/curriculum).
  • 16 General Education Units: At least one course in humanities/fine arts, social sciences, math/science, and English/language arts.
  • 6 Specialization Units: Focused in a specific area like infant/toddler care, bilingual development, or exceptional needs.
  • 2 Adult Supervision Units: Coursework covering the supervision of adults in a classroom setting
  • Minimum five years of preschool teaching experience, including experience in curriculum leadership, mentoring or staff supervision.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Reggio Emilia-inspired education or play-based, emergent curriculum, child development and preschool best practices.
  • Experience with Hebrew language immersion education preferred.
  • Jewish studies background or demonstrated knowledge of Jewish traditions, values, holidays and Israeli culture, preferred.
  • Knowledge of Transitional Kindergarten standards and kindergarten readiness practices, preferred.
  • Cleared Background Check (Fingerprints, Child Abuse Index Check and Medical/TB exam)
  • Pediatric First Aid and CPR Certified or willing to obtain
  • Ability and desire to work independently and as a team member with the community and other employees
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across the organization
  • Ability to work nights and weekends occasionally
