Job summary

Vertex Education in Phoenix is seeking a Preschool Teacher Assistant to work with the lead teacher in planning daily activities for young learners, supervise classroom routines, assist during meals, and provide one-on-one attention as needed.

You will help organize the classroom, support development of basic skills like numbers and colors, model positive behavior, and report observations to support each child’s progress; travel between campuses may be required.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Licensure or Certification: Food Handler’s Card/Certification, CPR and First Aid Certified, valid IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Background check: Must pass a criminal history background check.
• Experience: 6 months or more working in an Early Childcare setting.
• Skills: Ability to interact positively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators; strong communication and organizational skills; flexibility in work schedule; professional appearance; collaboration with fellow teachers and staff; maintenance of a safe learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead teachers in planning, developing, and implementing age‑appropriate curriculum.
• Support lead teachers in devising and imparting lesson plans daily.
• Assist students individually or in small groups with lesson assignments to reinforce learning concepts.
• Adapt classroom activities to support classroom goals.
• Monitor students to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
• Assist students during lunchtime and other routines, model appropriate behavior.
• Maintain classroom equipment and organization to meet requirements.
• Perform general clerical tasks to prepare instructional materials.
• Create a comfortable and secure environment for young students.
• Report observations and incidents to instructional and administrative personnel.
