Job Description

Responsible for implementing a preschool program for children ages 3-5 years.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Pass a criminal background check that meets required State and Federal laws.
• Valid CDA preferred.
• Obtain & maintain First Aid/CPR certification within 2 months of hire.
• Bilingual in English and Yup’ik preferred.
• Able to lift 40 pounds.
• Three years successful experience in early childhood or an elementary classroom and/or 3 years experience in a home visiting program required.
• Align with NCLB Paraprofessional Qualification requirements (48 semester hours or Associate Degree or pass State-Approved Academic Competency test).
• Ability to live and work in a cross-cultural, rural Alaskan environment.
• Ability to carry out successfully the duties described below.

Duties

• Confers with parents regarding preschool goals and objectives.
• Establishes two-way communication with community agencies and organizations that may be of assistance to parents and children.
• Establish, coordinate, and conducts preschool parent committee meetings.
• Implements curriculum, establishes and maintains schedules, and coordinates activities for preschool children.
• Maintains and submits accurate records and reports as required.
• Attends meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
• Assists with training of preschool staff.
• Coordinates and administers screening of children in the preschool program.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
