Job summary

Pediatrics Plus is seeking a Classroom Lead Teacher to manage the classroom, assess children, and help develop Individualized Treatment Plans. You will lead teaching assistants and collaborate with therapists and staff to deliver evidence-based education in a developmentally supportive setting.

The role emphasizes engaging with children, maintaining a positive environment, and upholding safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required; CDA preferred.
• At least 1 year of classroom experience with developmentally at-risk children preferred.
• Ability to engage with children safely and effectively; strong teamwork essential.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of the classroom.
• Assess each child in class using the proper assessment tool.
• Assist in developing each child’s Individualized Treatment Plan (ITP).
• Review the ITP and suggest curriculum changes to the Curriculum Coordinator.
• Ensure that the ITP is implemented to maximize treatment of the children served.
• Refer children for additional clinical services as needed in collaboration with the director and staff.
• Ensure that required reports are updated, completed and turned in on time.
• Maintain classroom supplies and a clean, safe learning environment.

What you will do:

Our ideal candidate is someone who is excited to learn and is passionate about helping children in a fun, engaging, and collaborative manner.

• Manageall aspects of the classroom
• Assesseach EIDT child in his/her classroom using the proper assessment tool
• Assistin the development of each child’s Individualized Treatment Plan (ITP)
• Reviewthe ITP and makes suggestions of changes to the Curriculum Coordinator
• Ensurethat the ITP is implemented to maximize the treatment of the children served
• Referchildren for additional clinical services as needed (i.e., nutritional, medical, therapy and behavioral issues), in collaboration with the director and any other appropriate administrative staff
• Ensurethat required reports are updated, completed and turned in on time
• Ensurethe completion of classroom billing via deTASO
• Maintainclassroom supplies
• Ensurethat visual supervision of the children is maintained at all times
• Ensurea positive emotional climate for the children by showing respect to children and adults through a willingness to help others, by maintaining harmonious interpersonal relations and through use of appropriate and approved discipline techniques
• Maintainan environment conducive to preventative discipline
• Speakin a well modulated, pleasant and caring voice to children, parents and staff
• Attendand actively participates in job-related center functions
• Representthe program to parents, visitors and the public in a positive way
• Ensurethat a clean, safe, healthy and sanitary learning environment is maintained and that children are kept clean, clothing is changed when necessary, and toys and other materials are disinfected each day
• During periods of physical activity, ensures that active involvement is maintained with children to promote gross and fine motor development
• Immediately reportany information regarding health and safety concerns to the Assistant Director or Nurse
• Completerequired hours of relevant and approved in-service trainings per fiscal year
• Is familiar with the company’s policies, procedures and guidelines, as well as those requirements set forth by regulatory agencies, including EIDT, AR Child Care Licensing, and the AR Health Department
• Displayconcern for the rights of children and families served by the clinic
• Reportfor work dressed appropriately and complies with company policies regarding dress code
• Ensureconfidentiality of children and employee information. Responds to internal and external requests for information according to clinic policy
• May be asked to perform some housekeeping/janitorial functions
• May perform other related and non-related duties, as assigned
• Completetasks in a timely manner

• Ability to handle multiple tasks in a very busy environment
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policies, and other company documents
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of families or employees of organization
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

Education/Certification:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• CDA preferred

Experience/Knowledge:

• Prefer at least one year of successful experience in a classroom setting working with developmentally at-risk children or equivalent combination of education and experience

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to walk, sit, use hands and fingers to handle, lift, feel, and reach. The employee is frequently required to stand and stoop, twist, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to maintain regular and punctual attendance. The employee is required to complete tasks in a timely manner.
