The Goddard School of Manhattan (Stuytown) is seeking a passionate Lead Teacher for a Preschool classroom (3 to 4 year olds). You will implement engaging, developmentally appropriate curriculum, lead daily activities, and collaborate with a supportive team to foster a nurturing learning environment.

Qualified candidates hold a NYS Teaching Certification or equivalent in early childhood education, with related classroom experience.

Qualifications

• Requires NYS Teaching Certification or valid credentials in early childhood education.
• Experience with developmentally appropriate curriculum delivery preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with children, families and staff.

Lead Teacher Key Responsibilities:

• Curriculum and Instruction:
  • Implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities
  • Foster a love of learning through creative and engaging teaching methods
  • Observe and assess children's development and adjust activities accordingly
• Classroom Management:
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Manage daily routines and transitions smoothly
  • Address behavioral issues with positive guidance and support
• Family Communication:
  • Maintain open and effective communication with parents/guardians regarding their child's progress and daily activities
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences and provide regular updates
  • Encourage family involvement and participation in school activities
• Health and Safety:
  • Ensure the cleanliness and orderliness of the classroom and common areas
  • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and procedures
  • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities to ensure their safety and well-being
• Professional Development:
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities
  • Stay current with best practices in early childhood education
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to share ideas and strategies

Qualifications

• Lead Teacher Qualifications (Preschool)
  (1) Bachelor's (BA or BA) or Associate's degree in early childhood education and a NYS Teaching Certification; or
  (2) Bachelor's (BA or BA) Associate's degree in early childhood education and 2 years experience in a licensed early childhood program; or
  (3) Associate's (AA or AS) degree in early childhood education and a study plan showing current enrollment in school which will be leading to a Bachelor's degree within seven years
• Has successfully completed state-required pre-service training
• Develops relationships and communicate effectively with children, parents, and faculty members
• Ability to calmly address stressful situations professionally while multi-tasking to ensure smooth school operations
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations. For Infant and Young Toddler Teachers, must be able to properly lift infants into and out of a crib
• Meets background check eligibility

• Twenty-Seven (27) paid personal days (Yes 27!!!) per year as follows:
  • Ten (10) paid personal days per calendar year
  • Five (5) paid personal days between Christmas and New Year's Day when the school is closed
  • Nine (9) paid holidays per calendar year.

• Up to 100% tuition reimbursement subject to performance and commitment to work for a specified period.
