Job summary

The JCC of Central NJ in Scotch Plains, NJ is seeking a Preschool Co-Teacher to join the Brody Family Early Learning Center. You will provide daily care, support learning, and nurture children's social, emotional and early development.

Responsibilities include maintaining a safe classroom, documenting progress for families, communicating with parents, supporting play and growth, and participating in ongoing professional development and Judaic learning as part of our program.

Qualifications

• A CDA certification is preferred; willingness to obtain or enrolled in CDA program considered
• Previous school setting experience, 3+ years preferred
• CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to acquire
• Strong communication skills: oral, reading, writing
• Ability to relate to young children and adults
• Judaic knowledge or willingness to acquire knowledge through study
• Knowledge of growth and development of young children

KeyResponsibilities

General

• Attendto children's physical and emotional safety by providing care, protection,consistency, and guidance to the children
• Bewith children joyfully and treat them as competent learners and individuals

• Documentchildren's play and learning, including portfolios, learning stories, hallwayor classroom displays, and written and verbal parent communication

• Maintaininventory of supplies and rotate materials in line with milestone development

Communication

• Monitorgrowth and development of each child; regularly communicate progress and concernswith parents and school leadership
• Attendto daily communication using the school's chosen software and on JCC email
• Maintaina continuing dialogue and problem solving with the teaching team
• Respect the privacyof children and families by maintaining strict confidentiality

Administrative & Classroom

• Read and maintain children's files and portfolios including work samples, anecdotal notes and other documentation
• Provide a cheerful, nurturing, healthy, safe and clean classroom environment
• Maintain attendance and injury records
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of equipment, materials, and classroom
• Care for classroom environment and aesthetics, maintain inventory of supplies, and frequent rotation of materials based on children's development and interests

ProfessionalDevelopment

• Participatein lifelong learning by increasing knowledge and abilities in the field ofearly childhood education through attendance at workshops and courses, readingbooks or articles, and attending pedagogical team meetings
• Worktowards increasing knowledge of Judaism and related topics
• Complete at least 12hours of professional development annually; maintain personal PD records

RequiredQualifications

• Aminimum of a Child Development Associate (CDA) certification preferred.Willingness to obtain, or currently enrolled in CDA program, along with relatedexperience considered
• Previousexperience in a school setting, preferably 3 years or more

PhysicalRequirements

• Spendingtime outdoors throughout the school year (in various weather conditions)
• Workhours: Monday – Friday 10:00am-6:00pm during the school year; occasionaladditional hours for meetings, professional development, and special programs

Compensation:

$27,000-$38,500 annually;compensation depends on degree, experience and position; compensation for September– June school year is paid over 12 months
