Job summary

Serenity Kids in Dilworth, MN is seeking a Preschool Teacher Assistant to support daily classroom activities, help with routines, and provide a caring, engaging environment for early learners.

The role requires patience and reliability, strong communication with families and educators, and the ability to implement a curriculum that fosters social growth, creativity, and foundational skills. Schedule: about 10–15 hours weekly, typically 1:00–5:30 p.m.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and meet credential/experience requirements.
• Assistant teacher must work under supervision of a teacher.
• CPR & First Aid completed or able to complete.
• Background check required.
• Excellent communication and instructional skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, organize and direct daily classroom functions.
• Develop a careful and creative program suitable for preschool children.
• Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach children
• Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
• Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments
• Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers or colors, do crafts etc.)
• Organize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
• Track children’s progress and report to parents
• Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children’s background and psyche
• Collaborate with other educators
• Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards

Job Duties

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old and meet one of nine possible combined credential, educational and experience requirements; for example, a high school diploma with 4,160 hours experience as an assistant teacher and 24 credit hours in a child care-related area of study.

Summary

As a Preschool Teacher Assistant, you'll play an important role in creating a fun, welcoming, and engaging environment where young children can learn, grow, and build the skills they need for kindergarten and beyond. Working alongside our preschool team, you'll help with classroom activities, play, routines, and hands-on learning while building positive relationships with the children in our care. This is a great opportunity for a college student interested in education or child development to gain meaningful, real-world experience.

We're looking for someone who is patient, dependable, energetic, and genuinely enjoys working with children. Previous childcare or classroom experience is a plus, but most importantly, we're looking for someone who is excited to learn and make a positive impact.

Schedule: Approximately 10-15 hours per week, primarily during afternoon hours between 1:00-5:30 p.m., making this a great position to fit around a college class schedule.
