Job summary

Our Lady Star of the Sea School in Michigan seeks an energetic Preschool Aide to join our faith-based early childhood team. You will engage students in cooperative, creative and safe play and support the lead teacher in daily activities.

Applicants should be High School graduates, be willing to complete a TB test, a fingerprint/background check, Protecting God’s Children training, and 16 hours of annual PD in Early Childhood topics. CPR/First Aid certification is required or provided.

Qualifications

• High school senior, diploma or GED equivalency required.
• CPR and First Aid certification required (infant/child and adult) or training provided by the school.
• Fingerprint/background check and Protecting God’s Children workshop required before start.
• Annual 16 hours of professional development in early childhood topics.

Responsibilities

• Engage students in cooperative, creative, and safe play.
• Support and assist the lead teacher in daily classroom activities.
• Monitor student behavior and foster a positive, nurturing environment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and developmentally appropriate classroom.
• Model consistent disciplinary approach aligned with school standards.

Requirements and Responsibilities:

• High School Senior, High School Diploma or GED equivalency


• Engage students in cooperative, creative, and safe play


• Support and assist the lead teacher in daily classroom activities


• Monitor student behavior and foster a positive and nurturing environment


• Help maintain a clean, organized, and developmentally appropriate classroom


• Model after the lead teacher in promoting a consistent disciplinary approach, which sets high standards for student behavior, promotes self-direction and confidence, and manages inappropriate behaviors effectively\


• Maintain a positive relationship with parents, staff, and administration through regular communication in a faith-based and professional manner


• Uphold our mission of "Building Strong Minds and Faithful Hearts Through a Catholic Education"


• Certified in Infant/Child and Adult CPR and First Aid (school will provide training if needed)


• Complete 16 hours of Professional Development in Early Childhood topics (annually)

Prior to start must complete:

• Fingerprinted/Background check (through school)


• Protecting God’s Children Workshop (available through Archdiocese of Detroit)
