Job summary

Motorola Solutions is seeking a Presales System Engineer Intern in Massachusetts. You will work with our Communications Systems Engineers to design radio solutions from concept through implementation, aligning with customer requirements and ensuring technical quality.

Mentorship from senior engineers and opportunities to develop professional and technical skills are provided. The role is on-site, with a focus on learning customer-facing presales activities and solution design within the Public

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required
• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's with expected graduation date on or after December 2027
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely
• Excellent communications skills for presenting to non-technical audiences
• Self-motivated and able to work under pressure
• Experience working with customers is desirable
• Desirable knowledge in radio systems, RF, wireless, broadband, microwave, networking; CCNA/CompTIA/HAM certs are a plus

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with sales, product development and project management to develop technical strategies and proposals
• Coordinate design and planning of customer solutions using advanced technologies; provide pre-sales technical support
• Design system architectures, select equipment, perform coverage and frequency planning, and present proposals
• Engage in implementation of solutions as conceived and ensure project handover to deployment teams
• Manage all technical aspects from award through system acceptance; plan implementation and testing
• Keep sales teams and customers updated on Motorola Solutions technologies and relevance to needs

As the solutions architects, systems engineers have the technology and design responsibility for all sales support engagements nationwide.

Job Description

The Presales System Engineer (Internship) will get the opportunity to work closely with our Communication Systems Engineers, who design radio communication solutions, from the conceptual phases through to implementation that meet customer's requirements. They consult with the customer to determine their requirements to design the best solution to meet their needs. Senior Engineers support their colleagues to enhance both individual and group competencies, including mentoring junior system engineers. We expect our engineers to operate as professionals and take responsibility for their development including professional and technical skills needed for their success as an engineer.

Responsibilities:

• In cooperation with the sales, product development, and project management they develop technical strategies and generate proposals to customers presenting Motorola's solution.
• Provide coordination with the design and planning of the customer solutions using advanced technologies and provide technical support throughout the pre-sales phase of the project.
• Involves coverage and antenna site selection, frequency planning, interference analysis, design of system architecture, equipment selection, proposal generation, and presentations of proposed solutions to customer.
• Engaged in the implementation of these solutions as originally conceived.
• Take responsibility for all technical aspects of the assigned project from award until system acceptance.
• Involves implementation planning, system acceptance testing, coverage testing, and system staging.
• Work to ensure that the our sales professionals and customers are kept up to date on the latest technology offerings from Motorola Solutions and their relevance to customer needs.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma required
• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree with an expected graduation date on or after December 2027. Returning to school in the Fall of 2027.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
• Excellent communications skills and the ability to present complex topics to non-technical audiences
• Self-motivated and able to maintain focus in a pressured environment
• Experience working with customers is desirable
• Experience/ Knowledge in radio systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless, broadband, microwave, and/or networking is desirable.
• Experience/ Knowledge of communications networks (MPLS, Ethernet, TCP/IP) is desirable
• Certifications through CCNA, CompTIA, and/ or Amateur Radio/ HAM is desirable
