Job summary

Lakeside Book Company is seeking a press layout specialist in Hagerstown, MD. You will prepare final files for press, layout and trap book work, and output proofs for QC while supporting emboss, foil, and special effects workflows.

The role requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and about 2 years of printing experience. Expect a 4-day schedule, on-site hours 7:00am–5:00pm, with safety and quality standards guiding all work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 2 years of printing experience preferred.
• Experience with layout, trapping, and final file prep is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Layout and trapping of final PDF files from customer files.
• Layout and trapping of all book work.
• Output proofs for QC review.
• Create emboss, spot UV and foil files as needed.
• Output film for all special effects.
• Assist pressroom with color corrections as needed.
• Adhere to safety, security and environmental policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Position Summary

Prepare all final files for press and support pressroom as needed while following all safety and quality control standards.

Schedule

Tuesday to Friday 7:00am to 5:00pm

Rate

$25.75 - $33.25 Based on experience

Position Responsibilities

• Layout and trapping of all final PDF files from customer's app or PDF file
• Layout and trapping of all book work
• Output proofs to be QC'd
• System work as needed to create, emboss, spot UV and foil files
• Output film for all special effects
• Assisting pressroom with color corrections as needed
• Adheres to and promotes all safety, security and environmental policies and procedures
• All other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for 12-hour shift
• Ability to occasionally carry and lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to bend and reach for extended periods of time
