Job summary

Twin Cities Pain Clinic is seeking a Surgical Admission Unit/Post Anesthesia Care Unit Registered Nurse to join our ASC/PACU team in Minnesota. The RN will provide clinical nursing, oversee nursing care in the ASC, and ensure smooth patient flow from pre-op through recovery.

Responsibilities include teaching pre-operative care, administering medications, and coordinating with other caregivers to meet patient outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's preferred.
  • Current Minnesota RN license required.
  • ACLS and BLS certification required.
  • One year of RN experience in ambulatory surgical center required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical nursing in the ASC and PACU.
  • Supervise nursing care within the ASC and coordinate with staff.
  • Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and apply dressings.

Job Summary:

The SAU/PACU Registered Nurse provides clinical nursing in the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) and plays a primary role in the efficient functioning of the ASC. Duties of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Establishes and maintains courteous and cooperative relations with patients and other users of the ASC.
  • Oversees the clinical practice of nursing in the ASC including assessing patient care needs and planning the delivery of care utilizing the nursing process in a variety of settings.
  • Directs other caregivers in providing patient care.
  • Reports variances from standard practice to the Nurse Manager.
  • Provides pre-operative teaching as needed, such as explanation of surgical routine and environment.
  • Processes patients through the ASC.
  • Administers prescribed medications, applies dressings, and monitors vital signs.
  • Assesses the level of personnel skills and the availability of resources to meet established patient outcomes.
  • Actively participates in attaining ASC goals and mission.
  • Responsible for personal and staff development by maintaining nursing competencies.
  • Completes all mandatory nursing competencies and educational requirements within a defined time frame.
  • Participates in the preparation of staff development programs. Identifies self-learning needs, establishes personal and professional goals to meet those needs and evaluates attainment of set goals.
  • Demonstrates a positive, concerned, and sensitive response in the workplace.
  • Contributes to the positive atmosphere of the workplace.
  • Interacts with patients, visitors, and staff in a courteous, helpful manner.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information regarding patient, families, and staff members.
  • Resolves conflict in a positive manner.
  • The position requires cross training to pre-procedure, intra-procedure, recovery, and pre-procedural phone calls.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility:
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Nursing required. Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Current Minnesota license as a Registered Nurse (RN) required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) required.
  • One year of clinical experience as an RN in an ambulatory surgical center environment required.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a medical surgery center setting. Must be willing and able to float between Edina, Burnsville, and Maplewood locations regularly.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Compensation & Work Schedule:
  • Casual: 0.0 FTE. Monday - Friday
  • Non-Exempt.
  • Weekday day shift; start times vary from 5:45-8:00AM.
  • No evenings or weekends.

Starting wage dependent upon experience.
