Pinnacle Living’s Cedarfield location is seeking a full-time Prep Cook to support recipe production and presentation following established guidelines. You will assist with utility tasks as directed by the Chef and maintain sanitation in the work area.

Responsibilities include processing raw foods, stocking and washing kitchen items, and aiding in menu production for independent living and health services. Weekend/evening shifts and physical labor are required.

Qualifications

  • General kitchen knowledge required for entry-level duties in preparation and presentation of menu items.
  • Knowledge of food production, sanitation, and safe storage practices.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks.
  • Understanding of Health Department regulations relevant to commercial kitchens.

Assists as needed in utility work as directed by Chef. Maintains strict sanitation of work area to include equipment, floors, walls, etc.

Education, Experience, Certification And Licensure Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • No licensure required.
Job Duties
  • In accordance with production sheets, responsible for processing raw food products for use in recipe production.
  • Report repair and maintenance needs to Production Manager.
  • Assist in washing and restocking of all china, glassware, and silverware as needed.
  • Assist in the production of menu items for both independent living and health Sesvices production.
  • Maintains a high standard of quality in food preparation, portion control, and serving.
  • Maintains proper food storage of all foods by sealing, labeling, and dating items before placing in refrigerator or freezer (date and description).
  • Reviews and follows menus procedures and shall make changes only in consultation with the chef or Director of Dining Services.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all knives and utensils are clean, sanitized, and properly stored when not in use and held in a sanitizing solution when at a workstation between uses.
  • Wiping cloths in use for wiping counters and other equipment surfaces shall be free of food debris and visible soil. Wiping clothes are held in a chemical sanitizer solution between uses.
  • Maintains proper sanitation and safety of food preparation area and equipment. Handles and prepares food in accordance with departmental and regulatory guidelines.
  • Makes daily inspection of work area assuring sanitation and safe working conditions.
  • Washes and cleans utensils and equipment utilized in production.
  • Attends all required meetings, training and inservices.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of general kitchen and ingredient offerings to perform entry-level duties in preparation and presentation of menu at community.
  • Knowledge of food production, preparation techniques, including sanitation and storage.
  • Knowledge of Health Department Regulations related to food storage, preparation, and services in a commercial kitchen and CCRC.
  • Ability to use and maintain kitchen equipment.
  • Able to read, write and communicate using the English language.
  • Ability to taste and smell.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks.
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Extensive walking, bending, stooping, standing, pulling, pushing, and carrying.
  • Exposure to heat and cold.
  • Working on weekends, evenings, holidays, and during inclement weather are required.
  • Exposure to the sights, sounds, smells of a typical healthcare environment including interacting with persons having dementia.
