Job summary

Pizzeria Gabbo is opening a new team in Chicago and is hiring Prep Cooks. You will be responsible for preparing foods, garnishes and condiments for the line or service, and you must be available for various shifts, including weekends.

Joining Lettuce Entertain You’s family of restaurants, you’ll work in a busy kitchen with a focus on quality, safety, and teamwork. The role offers a path to growth within a growing neighborhood concept.

Qualifications

• Prepare food items and ingredients according to prescribed recipes and/or requests.
• Able to work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends.
• Safely and effectively use and operate knives and other kitchen tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Follow all prescribed portioning controls and par levels.
• Maintain food safety and quality standards.
• Read a thermometer correctly and efficiently.
• Communicate any food delays or issues to Coordinator.
• Accurately account for all items coming out of the kitchen.
• Understand and follow the food allergy procedure and special orders/restrictions.
• Comply with all safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures.
• Follow all policies and procedures in the Employee Handbook.
• Get along well with others and be a team player.

OPENING SOON: We’re hiring people to join our opening team as PREP COOKS!
We are currently accepting applications, with interviews beginning the week of Wednesday 09/09/26.
Pizzeria Gabbo is a neighborhood pizzeria and bar located in Chicago's Fulton Market District. The menu will feature two styles of pizza — Chicago Thin & Crispy and New York Crispy, a chef’s take on a traditional New York-style with a crispier finish. The menu will also highlight Italian classics including antipasti, salads, pastas and soft-serve gelato, focusing on sourcing products from both local farms and purveyors as well as imports from abroad. The wine program will highlight Italian, artisanal family-owned wineries with more than 20 pours available by the glass. The bar program will offer a classic, all-natural Spritz list and Italian-inspired cocktails, plus low ABV and zero-proof cocktails.

PREP COOK JOB DESCRIPTION
Prep Cooksare responsible for the preparation and production of readying foods, garnishes and condiments to be used on the line or for service.

Essential Functions

• Prepare food items and ingredients needed for menu items according to prescribed recipes and/or special requests
• Available to work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends
• Safely and effectively use and operate all necessary tools and equipment, including knives
• Ability to effectively communicate in order to perform and follow job requirements in written and spoken direction
• Ability to multi-task calmly and effectively in a busy, stressful environmentWork in a confined, crowded space of variable noise and temperature levels
• Able to move and lift up to 10 pounds, frequently move and/or lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally move and/or lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand and walk for an entire shift and move safely through all areas of the restaurant, which may include stairs, uneven or slick surfaces

Key Responsibilities and Duties
