Job Purpose The Prep Cook is responsible for preparing ingredients and menu components according to company recipes and standards. This role ensures stations are properly stocked and organized while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment. Prep Cooks play a key role in supporting kitchen operations and ensuring food is prepared efficiently and to quality expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare ingredients for service, including chopping, portioning, mixing, and measuring.
  • Set up and stock stations with necessary supplies before each shift.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of prep areas throughout the shift.
  • Label, date, and store all food items properly for freshness and safety.
  • Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
  • Work quickly and efficiently to support timely food preparation.
  • Communicate equipment, product, or supply needs to management promptly.
  • Assist in training new kitchen team members when requested.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a high‑volume kitchen preferred; multiple station experience a plus.
  • Strong understanding of basic cooking and preparation methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, physically demanding environment.
  • Excellent teamwork, organization, and communication skills.
  • Safe Food Handler certification preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Fast‑paced kitchen environment with exposure to heat, humidity, and wet floors.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Frequent handwashing and use of gloves required.
  • Schedule includes days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
