Position Overview

As a Prep Cook at Bar Louie, your primary focus is ensuring every guest feels safe and satisfied with the food prepared by you. You are dedicated to cleanliness, accuracy, and care for people. Your tasks may include prepping in one station or assisting on dish or line, depending on shift needs. You are fast, focused, and adaptable, taking pride in your work and contributing to a positive environment where guests keep returning for our consistently prepared favorites.

Position Responsibilities

  • Exemplify Bar Louie's Mission, Vision, and Values during your shift.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety.
  • Learn all prep items to prepare, label, rotate, and store ingredients accurately according to recipes and par levels.
  • Ensure food is stored and served at correct temperatures.
  • Control costs by preparing items accurately.
  • Keep the kitchen clean and organized, cleaning as you go.
  • Work independently or as part of a team, cross-training as needed.
  • Follow directions and communicate effectively with management and peers.
  • Complete opening and closing duties efficiently, including receiving deliveries and setting up/tearing down the line.
  • Adhere to all policies and safety standards, including health and sanitation regulations.
  • Provide consistent availability and maintain regular attendance.

Skills and Abilities

  • Effective communication with Managers and Team Members.
  • Ability to develop positive relationships.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Memorize and prepare menu items accurately.
  • Safely use knives and kitchen equipment.
  • Manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
  • Maintain high personal hygiene standards.

Education and Training

  • Culinary training or education preferred.
  • Knowledge of restaurant prep and cooking methods.
  • Food safety certification as required by law.
  • 3-6 months of related experience or training preferred.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds constantly and up to 50 pounds as needed, work in hot or cold environments, and stand/walk for extended periods. Frequent hand washing and safe use of knives and food prep equipment are required. Effective communication and manipulation of devices are also necessary.
