Job summary

KD Market in Schiller Park, IL is seeking a reliable kitchen assistant to support daily prep, washing and chopping ingredients, and keeping the kitchen clean and organized.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping as directed by prep lists.
• Store raw and prepared food in forward-facing containers with date codes.
• Maintain kitchen sanitation by washing dishes and cleaning surfaces.
• Assist with accepting and organizing incoming fresh food deliveries.

Job description

Position Overview

Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat etc. Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash etc.

Key Responsibilities & Core Duties

• Ingredient Preparation: Wash, peel, chop fruits/vegetables, cut raw meats, and prepare ingredients according to chef prep lists.

• Food Storage: Store raw and prepared food in designated dated containers following food safety codes.

• Kitchen Sanitation: Wash dishes, sanitize prep surfaces, operate standard kitchen equipment, and take out kitchen trash.

• Delivery Organization: Assist with accepting and organizing incoming fresh food deliveries.

• ServSafe Food Handler Certification required.

• Basic knife skills and familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment.

• Physical stamina to stand for long periods in heat/cold environments.
