Job summary

PopStroke Entertainment Group in Glendale, CA is seeking a prep cook to support ingredient prep, organization, and smooth workflow during busy service. You will help chefs turn dishes into masterpieces by preparing ingredients and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.

This non-exempt, hourly role requires weekend availability, teamwork, and strict adherence to portion control and food safety practices to minimize waste and ensure freshness across all kitchen areas.

Qualifications

• Previous prep cook experience in a high-volume environment.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment.
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of ingredients for cooking, including chopping, slicing, dicing, and marinating, following recipes and portion guidelines.
• Follow established portion control procedures to minimize food waste.
• Organize and stock ingredients and supplies to ensure smooth workflow during meal service.
• Maintain a high degree of standards in cleanliness and sanitation in all the kitchen areas, including equipment, countertops, and storage areas, following food safety regulations.
• Follow proper food handling procedures to minimize waste and ensure food quality and freshness.
• Assist with inventory management by monitoring stock levels, rotating ingredients, labeling prep items, receiving supplies, and notifying the chef or manager of any shortages or discrepancies.
• Follow all safety procedures.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate timing and workflow.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures.
• Assist with dishwashing duties as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
