Qualifications

• Degree from accredited nursing program.
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
• Minimum of three years' work experience as a staff nurse.

Responsibilities

• Performs assessment/data collection.
• Formulates a goal-directed plan of care and prioritizes nursing diagnoses and outcomes.
• Evaluates patient history, physical, medical clearance, and labs with providers and anesthesia staff.
• Delivers care in a knowledgeable, skilled manner to achieve patient outcomes.
• Sets priorities of care and conducts pre-operative and post-operative phone calls.
• Gathers patient medical information and health history via pre-op calls.
• Demonstrates knowledge of medical/surgical care, medications, labs, safety, and emergency equipment.
• Uses sound clinical judgment and decision-making.
• Documents on the patient floor and in the record accurately and concisely.
• Works as part of a care team and maintains BLS certification.
• Attends mandatory in-services and staff meetings.

To act as patient advocate, providing continuity of care designed to meet individual patient and facility needs through collaboration with other members of the healthcare team and supporting the philosophy, objectives and goals of the facility. The Staff nurse will assess the needs of individual patients, documentation and history including but not limited to adult, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients.

Minimum Qualifications

• Degree from accredited nursing program
• License as an LPN
• Minimum of three years work experience as a staff nurse

Essential Functions

• Performs assessment/data collection
• Formulates a goal‑directed plan of care, which is prioritized and based on determined nursing diagnosis and patient outcomes
• Evaluating and assessing patient’s history and physical, medical clearance, and patient labs with the provider’s office and anesthesia staff
• Implements care in a knowledgeable, skilled consistent manner in reaching the desired patient outcomes through nursing processes
• Establish priorities of patient care through performing pre‑operative and post‑operative phone calls
• Performs efficiently in pre‑operative phone calls to gather patient medical information and health history
• Demonstrates applied knowledge base in areas of medical/surgical patient care, pain assessment and actions of pharmaceuticals and anesthetic agents, laboratory values, safety and legal issues and all emergency equipment
• Practices effective problem identification and resolution skills as a method of sound decision making
• Performs documentation duties on the floor and in the patient record, which is timely, accurate and concise
• Works as part of a team in delivering patient care
• Maintains BLS certification
• Attends all mandatory in‑services and participates in staff meetings
• Remains flexible, adaptive and able to accept and implement new ideas and approaches
• Treats all patients equally adopting the center’s Patient Rights policy
• Reviews and carries out physician orders in an appropriate professional manner
• Willingness to assist with other duties when asked
