Job summary

HCA Healthcare is seeking a PreOp Registered Nurse for our Central Utah Surgical Center in Utah. In this PRN role, you will plan, implement, and evaluate preoperative nursing care for patients undergoing ambulatory surgery.

Responsibilities include preparing the care area, ensuring equipment readiness, assessing patients, reviewing charts, administering pre-op meds, and monitoring until OR transfer. RN license and BCLS required; ACLS/PALS as scheduled by facility.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma or Higher is required.
• 1+ year nursing experience in a clinical setting, preferably PACU/ICU or Surgery.
• Active RN license as required by state of employment.
• BCLS Certification upon employment; ACLS within 30 days; PALS if required by facility within 30 days.

• Ensure availability of necessary equipment and supplies for the procedure.
• Conduct complete physical and psychological assessment and evaluation of patient history and tests.
• Review patient charts for completeness prior to surgery.
• Administer pre-operative medications and intravenous therapy as prescribed.
• Monitor patients until transferred to the OR.
